One of the greatest challenges after a loved one dies is having to manage a dizzying amount of logistics while facing a tidal wave of emotions. What family and friends do you need to notify? Did your loved one have preferences about cremation or traditional burial? Which funeral home should you contact to help you with the details?
Selecting a funeral home is not a decision to take lightly, knowing you have only one chance at planning an unforgettable final farewell. You want to pay tribute in a way that highlights your loved one’s unique personality. You want to honor their wishes while helping family and friends begin to grieve and heal. And you need assurance that the funeral home professionals you’re working with provide the service options, personal touch, and compassion you deserve.
Our Funeral Home Then and Now
The history of our family-owned funeral home dates back to 1860 when George C. Ford opened one of the area’s first funeral homes in Elizabeth. His great-grandson, Robert L. Ford, after serving in WWII and training in funeral service, founded Robert L. Ford Funeral Home in 1958 in Flemington, creating the county’s first purpose-built funeral home. In 2013, Robert’s son, Bob Ford, sold the funeral home to our current owner, Daniel James “D.J.” Wright, to support its growth and continued excellent service, with Bob still part of the team.
Our staff has the knowledge and expertise to help you tell the story of your loved one’s life in a way that reflects who they were. We’re here to walk you through every step and have the flexibility to meet your needs without the trappings of corporate red tape. After all, we answer only to you – not a board of directors or corporate shareholders.
