Alan Edward Strober, age 76 years, of Springfield, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by his cherished family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Born on December 22, 1947, in Flemington, NJ, Alan was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Bates College in Maine, where he played football alongside Bryant Gumbel, who affectionately referred to him as “the Stroke” in the school newspaper for his impressive touchdowns. Alan continued his education at Stetson University Law School, where he earned the AmJur award in estate planning.
Alan enjoyed a successful career in the banking and checking industry, where he pioneered armored car mobile services nationwide. He later excelled in the mailing and printing industry, leading A&E Mailers to become one of the most respected and successful companies in the New York metropolitan area.
Devoted to providing a comfortable life for his wife and children, Alan found his greatest joy at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was never one to put on airs; his authenticity shone through in all he did. An avid golfer, Alan was a proud member of Shackamaxon Country Club, where he won the club championship in 1992.
He is predeceased by his father, Julius Strober, his mother, Sadie (Schultz) Strober, and his brothers Irwin, Stanley, and Wallace, as well as his sisters Roslyn and Estelle.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Donna, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Sheldon Strober, and his sister, Phyllis Cohen. Alan is also survived by his daughters, Dori Morgan (Sam), Dana, and Tara Strober Rosenberg (Evan), and his son, David (Dr. Lauren Strober), along with his cherished grandchildren, Thomas Morgan, Owen, and Ben Strober.
Graveside life celebration services will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery, 67 Capner Street, Flemington, NJ, 08822. Everyone is kindly asked to arrive at the cemetery beginning at 9:45 a.m. and to follow the instructions of the Wright & Ford Care Team Family Ambassadors.
All arrangements are under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
