Andrew J. Smith, age 66 years, of Stockton Borough, Hunterdon County, NJ, died peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family under the caring watch of Care Alternatives Hospice.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Andrew leaves behind a legacy of unwavering positivity, deep love for his family, and a kind heart that touched everyone who knew him.
Born and raised in Harrison, NY, Andrew was the youngest of four brothers. His childhood was filled with the warmth of close family bonds—exceptional meals lovingly prepared by his mother and memorable camping trips along the Northeast coast, where he developed his love for maps and road trips, earning him the affectionate title of “the human GPS.”
He loved the simple joys of life: a round of golf, a game of bowling, and above all, spending time with the people he loved most—his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Andrew dedicated much of his professional life to Johnson & Johnson, where he found not just a career, but a second family. He took great pride in his work and truly loved what he did—something that not everyone can say. Over the years, he built lasting friendships with colleagues who became lifelong friends.
Andrew was everyone’s biggest fan. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel valued. Undoubtedly what people will remember most about him is how he so effortlessly would send thoughtful notes, cards and messages to all of his friends and family giving them support and encouragement.
What set Andrew apart was his extraordinary optimism. No matter the challenge, he met it with courage and an unshakeable positive spirit. Even in his battle with cancer, the most difficult of trials, he remained hopeful and full of grace—lifting others up even as he faced his own struggle.
Andrew was predeceased by his beloved parents, and he carried their memory with him throughout his life. Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Pamela; his daughter Gina and her husband Ryan; his stepson Nick and his wife Kelsey; and his cherished grandchildren Madelyn, Emily, Frank, Andrew, and Antonia. He also leaves behind his brothers Dan Smith and wife Fran, Bob Smith and wife Margie and Steven Smith and his late wife Mary Ellen; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews Missy Smith and her husband Dan, Tim Smith (his godson), Christopher Smith and wife Melissa, and Jeffrey Smith and wife Angela; along with his great nephews and nieces Brynne, Parker, Griffin, Gianna, and Camryn.
Andrew’s warmth, thoughtfulness and boundless optimism will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. We will carry it on through shared stories and memories.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
A life celebration service will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and to which all are welcome.
