Andrew John Veres, age 85 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ, died on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Bridgeway Care Center, Hillsborough, NJ.
Born on September 28, 1935 in Ebervale, PA, he was the son of the late John and Stephanie Horinko Veres. Raised in Ebervale, Andrew had formerly lived in Perth Amboy, NJ, Flemington, NJ, Winnabow, NC and Belleair Bluffs, FL prior to moving to Hillsborough to be closer to family in March of this year.
A glazier by trade, Andrew owned and operated Middlesex Glass Corp., Woodbridge, NJ for many years where he was well known for his talents.
A devout catholic, he prayed the rosary daily and attended mass each week. He was well known at St. Brendan’s Church in Florida where he was part of their senior group.
Appreciating the beauty with which God created the Earth, Andrew loved to garden wherever he lived, and also was an avid boatsman, belonging to a boating club called the Power Squadron in North Carolina. He enjoyed water skiing whenever possible, small game hunting and was an expert marksman and archer; and no day was complete without a fun game of cards before bed.
Though his younger years were full of trials, Andrew used these life lessons in a way to bring his family together and many family members worked for his company over the years. He was very generous and found the best times were spent with family and friends. He and his wife, Catherine, were well known for throwing fun parties and they loved to ballroom dance as well as travel, with Bermuda and Puerto Rico being among their favorite vacationing spots. It was love at first sight when they met on the dance floor, and the couple inspired family and friends for more than sixty-one years until her passing on March 9, 2020.
Though sad with Andrew and Catherine passing so close together, the family takes heart that they are together again, dancing in heaven, in the place promised by God.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Surviving are his children, Stephanie and John Kanach, Andrew Verses, Jr. and Theresa, and Nina and Joe Salvadore; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several extended family members; and many friends around the world.
Graveside services and inurnment with his beloved wife, Catherine, at St. Magdalen Mausoleum, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ, were private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
