Andrew W. Lewis was born December 5, 1940 and passed into the light peacefully on April 19, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Janice. He is also survived by his son, Andrew James, his daughter, April, his son in law, Steve Campanelli, and his five dear grandchildren -Max, Olivia, Steven, Michael and Nick.
Andrew “Andy” Lewis loved his family dearly and loved family gatherings all year long. He loved being by the ocean. He especially loved golf, fishing, and watching Eagles football games with his family. He was a lover of all things Philadelphia Sports. In his early years, his love of speaking and writing led him to pursue sports broadcasting and even had an opportunity to be a broadcaster at a 76’ers game. He was a published writer for Baseball Digest magazine. He was so proud of his Navy career, and retired from AT&T Management after 30 years.
He cherished his wife, his children and five grandchildren. He loved and lived with great passion. He was such a friendly guy, with a goofy and funny side. He possessed the amazing gift of striking up a friendly conversation with just about everyone he met, even perfect strangers, and he always left them uplifted. Andy had a very gentle side too, and loved his cats Patch and Tinkerbell, and they adored him. Andy was a simple man, who never asked for much. But he loved and was loved in return with the same passion he exuded to all. He taught his children valuable lessons- to always ask people about themselves, to always use people’s names and look them in the eyes when speaking to them, the art of a great handshake, and encouraging people to believe in themselves. He believed in uniting people together and that there is nothing more important than family. Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend- he will be missed dearly and live forever in our hearts.
