Ann Newman, age 85 years, of Bethlehem, PA, died suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Born in Bronx, NY, December 13, 1938, Ann met her future husband, Stan, at a dance that she originally didn’t want to go to. She was struck by his beautiful blue green eyes and muscles. They fell in love and married when she was 18 years old. They moved to the suburbs of New Jersey and began their life together.
Ann was in nursing school when she met Stan and, at the time, would have been required to remain single to obtain a nursing degree. She chose marriage. Then, at age 36, she received her degree and an award for the highest grade point average in her class. This was no easy task with three children and her family was so proud of her. She went on to work as an RN on a medical surgical unit at South Amboy Memorial Hospital for 15 years and later worked for a law firm. Whatever area of employment Ann was in, she learned quickly and excelled.
Her life centered around her family and her friends. She loved spending time on her computer, catching up on current events and politics. The simple things in life like a beautiful hydrangea bush, a colorful tree, a fun find at a garage sale or thrift store, lunch with friends, and a home cooked meal made her smile. She just appreciated life and each day she had on Earth. Ann had a beautiful, kind and giving heart. She was always there to lend a helping hand to her family and friends, be a confidant through good times and the hard times, too. She was our mother and our forever friend.
Ann was a dedicated wife, mom and then Grandma to her five grandchildren. She experienced much joy from them and was so proud each of them were succeeding in their chosen professions.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by a beloved son-in-law, John Bowen.
She will be dearly missed by her three children, Jeff Newman and his wife, Lesley, Sue Bowen, and Judy Napoli and her husband, Steve; her grandchildren Mark Newman, Jay Newman, Dr. James Bowen and his husband, Nick, Mike Napoli, and Joe Napoli; and many cherished friends.
Graveside life celebration services and burial with her beloved husband were private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA, under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
