Audrey Flora Rausch, age 75 years, of East Brunswick Township, NJ, former longtime Hunterdon County, NJ, resident, died peacefully on Thursday, February 09, 2023, at Cranbury Center, Monroe Township, NJ.
Born on June 22, 1947, in Roslyn, NY, daughter of the late Roland and Julia Sucher Totter, Audrey was raised in Hempstead, NY, and lived in Flemington, NJ, for more than thirty years, moving to Florida in 1999 before moving back to New Jersey several years ago.
A second mom to all who met her, Audrey had a comforting heart and simply enjoyed being there for others, in whatever way she was able to help.
Raising her three children as a single mother, Audrey worked multiple jobs to ensure her children were well provided for, and many remember her smiling face from Krauszer’s and Somerset Farms Food stores, where she would happily make sandwiches with a smile and know her customers by name. She was also a talented seamstress, and for many years worked at The Chute Shop as well as at Sky Promotions Balloons at Sky Manor Airport, making sure the parachutes and hot air balloons were sewn to perfection. Her children’s wardrobes were always made complete by her tender loving touch and a trip to the fabric store with mom ensured that her children would get the pattern they wanted for their clothing.
With a heart used to hard work, Audrey spent time working on things she thought would bring light into the lives of her family and friends, and one of the things she will be remembered most for is her handmade Christmas ornaments which she made each year. It was an outward expression of her thoughtful and compassionate heart, and each year many looked forward to receiving their annual gift.
A fan of the New York Giants, the New York Yankees, and NASCAR, Audrey loved getting together for the various games because she simply loved having family and friends in the same place, enjoying each other. She was very much the glue that held her family together and to honor Audrey, is to remember that family is everything.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Derrick; her grandson, Kevin Myles Rausch, Jr.; and her dog, Rosie.
Surviving are her children, Catherine Keenan, Kevin Rausch, and Tara and her husband, Michael Hermanowski; her grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Joey, Destiney, Luke, and Jovianna; her great grandchildren, Ella, Leo, Jordan, Karter, Scarlett, Coralyne, and Aiden; a sister, Christine Grassick; a brother-in-law, William Derrick; her niece, Julyne Derrick; her nephew, Jason Derrick; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
Cremation at the Chapel of Somerset Hills Memorial Park Crematory was private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
