Barbara Ann Yasenchak, age 73 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Newark, NJ, November 21, 1947, daughter of the late Joseph John and Sophie Liskowitz Lindner. Barbara spent her childhood in Berkeley Heights, NJ later moving to Fanwood, NJ as a teenager and residing the last forty-nine years in Flemington, NJ.
A graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, it was there at square dancing that Barbara met her soul mate, Andrew Thomas Yasenchak, Sr.. The high school sweethearts were married on March 7, 1964, had two children together, and enjoyed fifty-two amazing years until his passing in 2016.
After high school, Barbara worked first for RCA in Rahway, NJ, before entering nursing school at Hunterdon Medical Center. Barbara left nursing school to take care of her young children, as she was a devoted and loving mother and didn’t want to miss any of her children’s milestones.
Barbara and Andy worked very hard, but also knew the value of enjoying their time together and with their family. The couple traveled all over the world and were particularly fond of cruising. They visited Monte Carlo, France, Russia, Germany, Italy and Denmark. Barbara enjoyed a later cruise to Cuba with her daughter and grandson.
She enjoyed spending time in Atlantic City, and the slots at Bally’s and Trump Plaza were not safe when Barbara was in town as she always knew just the right machines to play! She also enjoyed shopping and had a special affinity for Pandora charms.
A voracious reader and news observer, Barbara loved to spend hours with her cherished grandson, Andrew Christian, at Barnes and Noble where the two would spend quality time reading and learning together. It is well worth noting that Andrew was her pride and joy, and was a source of strength to her over the years after Andy died.
She was fond of feeding the birds and the other wildlife on her property. She valued every animal and was always doing what she could to help them in whatever way she was able.
She firmly believed in the quote by Cecil Frances Alexander, “All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.”
She loved animals, especially all of her sheltie dogs, over the years which included, Tawnie, Marky, Lexi, Happy Star, Lexi, Toby, and Samby. Brutus was her only German Shepherd. She cherished each and everyone of them as her faithful companions.
A longtime member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Flemington, NJ, Barbara was a longtime member of the woman’s association and participated in Bible study; her faith was a source of great strength and comfort to her.
The author Mitch Albom once wrote, “When you look into your mother’s eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth.” Barbara was the epitome of these words, and her love will surely live on for all time.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved blue merle shelties, Lexi and Toby.
Surviving are her son, Andrew Thomas Yasenchak, Jr.; her daughter, Robin Sue Krog; her grandson, Andrew Christian Krog; her brothers, Joseph and Jeffrey Lindner; her sheltie dog, Samby; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
