Barbara Ann Maynard, age 91 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Monday, June 21, 2021, under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born in Olean, NY, September 16, 1929, daughter of the late Melvin Carl Peterson and Grace Emily Fay Feterson, Barbara was a lifelong Olean, NY area resident, moving to New Jersey four years ago to be closer to her daughter.
For many years she worked cleaning homes in the Olean, NY area where she was well known for her meticulous detail. She also worked for a period of time at the Olean Herald Newspaper.
Having a faith that could move mountains, Barbara taught Sunday School at Grace Alliance Church, Olean, NY, for more than twenty years. She also served for a period of time as church treasurer.
Always early to anywhere she had to be (a trait learned as a young child), Barbara was the family historian whose practicality and cheerfulness, along with her wit and wisdom, will never be forgotten.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Maynard; her siblings, Clifford Paterson, Rhoda Hallowell, and Rev. Lyle Peterson; and her son-in-law, William E. Smith.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Smith-Rodland and Paul Rodland; her grandchildren, William J. Smith, Caleb L. Smith and his fiancé, Ashley Hand, Sara J. and David J. Evans, and Tobias S. Rodland; her great grandchildren, Logan Lyle and Alessa Caley Smith; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; and many dear friends.
