Brigid O’Reilly, age 89 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Sunrise at Bridgewater, surrounded by her cherished daughter, Bridget and son, Patrick.
Born in Moynagh Finea, County Cavan, Ireland on October 15, 1933, to parents Luke and Rose Arkins, Brigid resided in New York for over fifty years before moving to Flemington, NJ in 2005, with her beloved husband, Patrick.
Brigid was employed in various hospitality services in New York, prior to moving to New Jersey. She was a fiercely devoted wife, loving mother, grandma, sister, and loyal friend, always ready to lend a hand and care for others. She loved to garden, getting great joy tending to her flowers and plants. Once an avid bowler, in her later years she found enjoyment in watching her favorite golfers on TV. Always sharp and witty, she possessed a unique sense of humor never missing a chance to tell a good joke and see the lighter side of any situation.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Patrick, brothers, John of New York, Jim of Florida, Luke of Ireland, and her sister, Mary of Ireland.
She is survived by her daughter, Bridget and husband Albert, of Ringoes, NJ; her son, Patrick and his spouse Victor Jaccarino, of New York; her sisters, Rose of Ireland, Philomena and husband Mike of New Jersey, and Margaret of New York; two loving grandchildren, Brian and Meagan; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and one grand puppy, Seamus.
Brigid will lie in repose on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. An additional period of gathering will take place on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 9:00-9:15 a.m., again at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. John Primich will take place Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ.
Interment will follow mass in the family plot at St. John Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Queens, NY 11379, and to which all are welcome. For those who will be meeting at the cemetery, kindly ensure you are at the cemetery office by 12:15 p.m. to ensure you are present when the procession arrives and then you can join in line as we proceed to the gravesite. Please, do not go ahead to the grave on your own.
