Carol Ann Miller, age 84 years, of Frenchtown, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the home of her daughter in Delaware Township, NJ, and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born in Newark, NJ, April 10, 1935, daughter of the late Ernest Richard and Rose Mueller Kimball, she was raised in Union, NJ and had lived in Lebanon and Seaside Park, NJ, prior to moving to Frenchtown seven years ago to be closer to family.
A 1952 graduate of Union High School, she attended Alderson Broaddus University , Philippi, WV and completed her B.S. from Thomas Edison College. A woman who was passionate about education, Carol would later attend Rutgers University and earn her Masters degree in Social Work.
During her younger working years, she served as a secretary for Carpenter Steel Co., Union, NJ. Upon moving to Hunterdon County, NJ, she became a secretary for the Child Study Team for the Clinton Township School District. Later, she would become a social worker for the Hunterdon County Board of Social Services. Upon retiring from the county, she would work for Johnson & Johnson, Raritan, NJ before she retired completely.
Always the social worker in all aspects of life, Carol simply loved caring for others. Her ear was always available, and she would lend her thoughts when warranted.
Quiet in her life pursuits, she nevertheless made a loud impact. Her love of family and friends was evident in all she did and her passion for furthering others education was also evident in her actions.
Extremely intelligent, she loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. Carol was also a nature lover, and some of her fondest memories were of traveling and experiencing all this world has to offer. The beach, any beach, was by far her favorite.
The Dalai Lama once said, “It is not enough to be compassionate. You must act.” Carol’s legacy of genuine caring and love will not fade from this world anytime soon, and she leaves behind many who will continue to carry the torch of pure altruism. Thank you, Carol, for always inspiring.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Kyllonen on January 5, 2019.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Rose and Robert Burger; three grandchildren, Christopher Burger and Alexandra and Haley Kyllonen; two step-daughters, Cindy Ransom and Laura Maddox; her former spouses, Ken Miller and Leo Kyllonen, Jr.; a cousin, Patricia Mueller; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
