Caroline Lucas, age 93 years, of the Sand Brook section of Delaware Township, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Country Arch Care Center.
Born on May 12, 1928 in New York, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Burkhart Herman, Caroline moved to Sand Brook, NJ as a young child and lived there for the remainder of her life.
On June 28, 1947, she would join hands in holy matrimony with Zoltan Lucas and they would be married for almost fifty years, until his passing in 1997.
Enjoying gardening, Caroline and Zoltan would freeze and can their garden products. They would later use their bounty to open a farm fresh produce stand to the public. The couple would make many happy memories serving the public throughout the years.
Known for her needlework, crocheting, knitting, and sewing various items for the family, Caroline would challenge herself in making clothing, scarfs, mittens, and many other garments. She proudly made these works of art with her hands, but gave them freely from her heart. Simply put, love went into everything that Caroline created.
Though saddened by her passing, Caroline’s family will keep the legacy of this loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend alive by putting kindness into the world each day as she did.
In addition to her parents and husband, Caroline was preceded in death by a brother, John Herman, Jr., and a son-in-law, Roger Walter.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Alan and Rose Ann Lucas, Brian and Heather Lucas, Cathryn Walter, and Diane and Norman Kolb; her sisters, Barbara Meisner and Mary Ann Vogt; her brothers, Joseph and Wolfgang Herman; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
