Christopher David Bemelmans, age 41 years, of Bethlehem, PA, died on Sunday, August 2, 2020.
Born at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, April 5, 1979, son of Jean-Pierre and Frances Gustafson Bemelmans, Chris was a 1999 graduate of Freedom High School, Bethlehem, PA.
An electrician by trade and a member of the IBEW Local 102, Chris was a hard worker who made friends wherever he went. He was proud to work alongside his father, also a member of the union, and the two enjoyed traveling all over working on many projects in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Growing up, he was involved in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, and was active with the Bethlehem Athletic Association where he played baseball.
He also enjoyed traveling the world, with one of his favorite trips being to South Africa to see the elephants.
His main passion in life though, was BMX riding and taking care of his beloved dog, Tonto. He loved to go and participate in hill climbs and anything bike related, and though his Mom worried, he loved to ride his dirt bike and Harley. Riding gave Chris a sense of freedom as he communed with nature. Being a ‘Doggie-Dad’ was his other passion in life, adopting Tonto twelve years ago from a shelter. They lived for one another, and Chris often said he never knew who saved who!
Surviving, in addition to his parents and Tonto, are his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kelly Bemelmans; and many dear friends made as he traveled life’s winding path.
