David F. Hensal, age 47 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died suddenly on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Capital Health System at Fuld, Trenton, NJ, after a tragic accident.
Born in Somerville, NJ, July 4, 1974, son of Loretta Ann Boni Bedman and the late David Hensal, Sr., Dave was raised in Watchung, Branchburg, and Piscataway, NJ, and had lived in Flemington, NJ prior to moving to Kingwood Township in 2005.
Graduating Piscataway High School in 1992, Dave was an automotive technician with Boni Tire & Auto, Flemington, NJ.
The life of the party, Dave lived each day to the fullest, and was never one to shy away from telling you what was on his mind. He was known to be a true open book, and his randomness was much loved, even when he would tell a story that would leave you thinking “TMI, Dave”!
Very much a giver personality, Dave would do anything, for anyone, at any time. Learning from his maternal grandfather, John Boni, Sr., who helped to raise him, Dave knew that doing the right thing cost nothing, but not doing the right thing would be a disaster.
When he was just twenty-two, Dave’s world would be changed for the better when at a gathering, he would meet a seventeen-year-old Ms. Crystal Moulton. The pair shortly thereafter would became a couple. Crystal would later admit that when she looked into his eyes from across the room that first night, she knew her destiny had been fulfilled. She credits their love to the adage of “opposites attract”; she grounded him, and he was her spokesperson. They married in Flemington on September 11, 2003.
Their union would bring them three children, Alaina, Ember, and Kane, all of whom were loved by their father more than any words could ever express. They were the lights of his life and Dave’s legacy is simply defined by looking at each of them.
With many hobbies to his name, one of the things he will be remembered for most is his cooking. He greatly enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and his food was much loved by all.
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Dave loved to ride dirt bikes and motorcycles, collect guns and enjoyed shooting, and loved being out in nature- from fishing at a lake, to camping, to whitewater rafting and canoeing, he did it all. He also enjoyed a good sip of Jim Beam and participating in recreational horticultural activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, David F. Hensal, Sr.; his maternal grandfather, John Boni, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Platten.
Surviving are his wife, Crystal J. Mouton Hensal; his children, Alaina Leigh Hensal, Ember Lynn Hensal, and Kane David Hensal; his mother, Loretta Bedman; his maternal grandmother, Peggy Boni; his mother-in-law, Cindy Hayes; his father-in-law, Timothy Moulton; his brother and brother-in-law, Ryan and Mark VanDero; his sister and brother-in-law, Ashley and Ryan McPartland; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Raven Bedman; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Connie and John Miner, and Charlene and Dan Sitren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family; and many dear friends.
