Dhiren Tarachand Shah, 59, of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025.

Born on May 19, 1965, in Ahmedabad, India, he was the beloved son of Tarachand and Virbala. The youngest of four, Dhiren is deeply cherished by his older sisters, Shobna and Vishakha, and his older brother, Dilip.

After graduating from Podar High School in 1982, he pursued higher education at the Shri Chinai College of Commerce & Economics, earning his degree in 1987. Following a few professional roles in India, Dhiren made the bold decision to move to the United States in 1992, in search of greater opportunities.

During a visit back to India in 1993, he met the love of his life, Kavita, with whom he built a beautiful life.

Dhiren had an incredible zest for life, finding the most joy in spending time with his family and friends. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at 42, he remained independent and lived life to the fullest, traveling the world and bringing happiness to those around him. His kindness, laughter, and warmth will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dhiren is survived by his devoted wife, Kavita; his beloved children, Vidhan and Urvaj; his treasured dog, Maya; and a vast circle of loving friends and family.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.

Please join the family for a gathering Tuesday, February 18, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. in the Chapel of the Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.

A Life Celebration Service to which all are welcome will take place Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.

Hey Arun bhau, kasa kai? That’s how Dhiren used to call me every time. I know Dhiren for over 30 years now. Right from the first job in New Jersey, we were together as our kids were growing up, traveling together, and lately enjoying our time together with impromptu get togethers over some food, drinks and playing cards. Dhiren showed me how to stay positive in spite of the challenges life throws at you. He defined positivity, cheerfulness and caring for others. Parkinson never discouraged him from exploring anything when we traveled together enjoying the Inka trail in Machu Picchu, Bike ride on Bogota, snorkeling in Cancun and so many more memorable moments. We loved his OOPS moments when he would forget something and playing dumb charades for his unique ways to enact movie names. He will be in our heart forever as we continue to live his legacy of enjoying and living life every moment. Dhiru bhai, you have truly lived life to the fullest with your loving and supporting family. You will be deeply missed in the retirement years but I know you will be watching over us from the Heaven making sure we are making the most of every moment. So long until we meet again in another dimension my friend.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dhiren. Though we only had the chance to meet once, the memories of that evening at Kamlesh and Jayshree’s home—sharing laughter and good food at the BBQ—will always stay with us. The warmth, kindness, and presence made that day special, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to know Dhiren, even briefly. Sorry to hear about the sad news.

Dear Masa, I used to meet you every 2 years when you visited us in Mumbai. The first time I remember spending time with you was in 2010 when we visited y’all. Cut to, 2021 when I came to US for my masters, and I am the one travelling with only one bag because I had you and masi waiting with everything prepared. We got to spend soo much time together while I stayed with yall. Grocery runs, Indian store snack hauls, morning coffee, talking about SPY and IWM were some of the best times we have spent together. I still remember your coffee setting being 3-3-0 and mine being 3-3-2. I hope you are in a better place and find peace. You will always be my favourite person to shop Indian snacks with and buy kulfi for masi! -Devansh

I have known Dhiren for more than 30 years. After he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, on many occasions I have offered him help to fetch a cup of water or food at our home or at an event outside but he has always refused such help. He wasn't sorry for his health condition. He was a fighter and he always wanted to be an independent. I am going to miss his friendship! May the Lord bestow His peace upon the soul!
