Douglas John Vergara, age 83 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 16, 2024, with his cherished wife Jean by his side.

Composer, musician, photographer, master technician, mentor, husband, brother are just some of the words that could be used to describe this true renaissance man.

By his words and deeds, he had an impact on all who met him. He believed in being honest, loyal and forthright – an example for good in the world.

Just by being himself, he left behind a trail of people whose lives have forever been changed for the better in some way by his presence in the world.

I am deeply saddened about the death of my friend Doug. We worked together for 8 years at Mack Camera Service in Springfield. I was still in high school when we first met, and he quickly became my friend. Not only was he my mentor on how to fix cameras and photography, but he taught this naive little kid the values of life. I can’t thank him enough, and will miss him greatly. My condolence to Jean.

I was saddened to hear of Douglas’ passing, he was a favorite of mine at the infusion center, always with a wry smile, and a quick-witted response. He was always a pleasure to have in the infusion room. I will miss his presence there, and Jean’s as well. 2 wonderful people, I’m glad to have known you both in my short time as one of Doug’s nurses. Godspeed to Doug and my condolences to Jean and the family.
