Elizabeth Helen “Betty” (Schmelz) Mosso went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2020 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.
Born in Trenton, NJ on November 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Martin Schmelz and Anna (Mattes).
She earned her nursing diploma from the Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in 1952; and in 1953, received her Registered Nursing certificate from the NJ Board of Nursing.
She met Joseph B. Mosso of Nanty Glo, PA at a USO dance and on May 28, 1955, they wed and settled in Flemington, NJ. She and Joe had six children together: David (Kay) Mosso, Linda Mosso, Kathleen (Jeff) Austin, Judith Crowder, Kevin (Donna) Mosso, and Scott (Judi) Mosso.
In addition to raising her children, Betty worked as an RN at Mercer County Medical Center. Later, she worked the night shift on the mental health ward at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ until her retirement in 1992.
Betty and Joe were married for 61 years until Joe’s passing in 2016.
In addition to her children, Betty is survived by her sister Marie (Schmelz) Scott of Griffin, GA and nine grandchildren: Maura, Monica, Eric, Amanda, Jeffrey, David Jeffrey (DJ), Anthony, Sarah, and Olivia; and three great grandchildren.
Betty was a loving mother, great cook, avid quilter and crafter; and was always up for a card game, a good joke, and a long laugh. She will be dearly missed.
