Gaar Todd Lund, age 90, of Flemington, New Jersey, passed away August 31, 2021.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gaar was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Shortly after he and Virginia Lund neé DeRosier were married, they moved to New Jersey when he got a position at the Bound Brook School District so they could be closer to New York City. The family moved to England in 1959 for a teacher exchange before returning to the United States. Gaar then obtained his Master’s degree from Kean University and finished out his teaching career at the Franklin Township School District where he was the Art Department Supervisor. Gaar spent his retirement traveling, swimming, enjoying performances at McCarter Theater and Broadway, and relishing the best coffees and desserts.
Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lund, and grandson, Andrew Bitner, Gaar is survived by his children, Julie Lund of Flemington, New Jersey, Ellen Bitner and husband Jeff Bitner of Lockport, New York, David Lund and wife Helena Lund of Stockholm, Sweden, four grandsons, Christopher Bitner, Eric Bitner, Axel Lund, Henrik Lund, and favorite granddaughter Nina Campos.
The family would like to thank the associates, nurses, and doctors of Brookdale at Hillsborough where Gaar spent his last years.
Please honor him with a trip to an art museum or a modern dance performance. Listen to some classical music. Raise your martini glass to the goodness of people. That’s what Gaar would do.
Cremation was private and under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
You are encouraged to visit Gaar’s permanent life celebration site at www.wrightfamily.com to light a candle of hope, leave messages of condolence, share words of comfort and recollection, and post photographs of his life.
