Gloria Gale Snyder, age 74 years, of Frenchtown, NJ, died suddenly but peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Growing up on a 100-acre farm in Mount Airy, she planted her roots in Hunterdon County, predominantly in Lambertville and Frenchtown.
Gentle, kind, and compassionate are but a few words that capture the spirit and soul of this loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
Having a diverse career, in the early ’70s, she worked as an egg candler in Flemington, NJ, until a door opened to become a school bus driver in Kingwood, NJ. She then moved on to be a machine operator at Lipton Tea for 20 years in Flemington, NJ. Upon the plant closing, she worked as a custodian for the New Hope Solebury School District until retirement.
Gloria was loved by so many, and her kindness was unmatched. She was incredibly thoughtful and generous. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren…they were her world!
Her creative side was always an essential part of her life. She loved drawing, coloring, and doing arts & crafts with her grandchildren. A country girl at heart, she also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Her recipes and traditions of pickling beets, eggs, and green beans with her longtime friend of over 30 years, Beverly Holbert, to her delicious vegetable beef soup and the smell of her stuffing cooking on Thanksgiving day, will not be forgotten.
Gloria was a shining light that brought joy and laughter to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the salt of the earth and had the unique gift of making friends with anybody, anywhere she went.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leavitt and Pearl Todd, and her sisters, Marion Todd, Lorriane Todd, and Thelma Todd LaRue.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Jordan Guenther; her son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Amy Snyder; her loving grandchildren, Kelsey and Derek Guenther and Jake Snyder; her sister, Lillian Clark; her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Sissy Todd and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
