Grayson Felton Ebanks, age 6 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 03, 2024, at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ, with his devoted parents and family at his side.
Born on February 28, 2018, at Capital Health-Hopewell, Grayson was the son of Vanessa Hartz and Charles Wayne Ebanks, and was a lifelong area resident.
A larger than life persona, Grayson was affectionate and happy all the time. Though he was autistic and non-verbal, he always found creative and ingenious ways to always express himself, and you always knew what was on his mind.
Any toy that had a sensory presence was the one that Grayson reached for first. From bright colors to creative shapes, his toy room had a bit of everything. He was very outgoing, loved to be tickled, but was also a snuggler who could never get enough of Mom and Dad’s hugs.
From climbing on Grandpa to face-timing with family, Grayson was an active and life-living young man affectionally and appropriately called “Champ” by his dad. He was greatly looking forward to starting kindergarten this fall at Clinton Public School, and though he won’t be physically present, the love he shared with anyone and everyone will permeate the walls of the school forever.
Though his life was shortened by a tragic accident, Grayson being Grayson managed to be able to give the gift of life to another six-year old boy by donating his heart, as well as saving the lives of countless other boys and girls, and men and women of all ages, with his other gifts of donation. Through his life and his actions, Grayson will forever remind us all of what love truly is, and what really matters in this world. Rest in the sweetest of peace Champ, until we are all reunited once again.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kevin Hartz, Sr., and his maternal great grandparents, Harrison and Joann Hartz.
In addition to his mother and father, Grayson is survived by his brother, Isaiah Robinson; his maternal great grandparents, James and Sara Mayberry; his maternal grandparents, Jacklyn and Cuong Nguyen; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Gerolyn Ebanks; his aunts and uncles, Clinton Valentine, Vevienne Ebanks, Kevin Hartz, Jr., Matthew Hartz, and James and Sophie Nguyen; his cousins, Chloe, James, Kiera, Lia, Clinton, Jaelynn, Chloe, Kyler, and Karsyn; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
