Helen Nikolas, age 93 years, of Flemington, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Helen grew up in San Antonio, TX, went to Brackenridge High School and later the University of the Incarnate Word. She was a schoolteacher until she married her husband Louis, and moved to Chicago, IL. She resided there until 1984, when she and Louis moved to Boca Raton, FL. After 38 years in Florida, she moved to New Jersey in 2022 to be close to family.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, her parents and grandparents, her brother, James Bellos, and her sister, Dorothy Sawyer.
She is survived by her brother, Jack (Mary Jane) Bellos; her two daughters, Alexandra Nikolas and Aphrodite (Andrew) Baptiste; her son, Michael (Regina) Nikolas; her three grandchildren, Nikolas Baptiste, Chelsea (Brandon) Palladino, and Alexa (Miko) Nikolas, all of whom she cherished and loved dearly. She is also survived by five great grandchildren: Carter, Brooks, Vivian Lou, Nova, and Truth.
This true woman of valor was dearly loved by her family and her many friends throughout the years. She will be greatly missed.
Helen will lie in repose on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 85 Voorhees Corner Road, Flemington, NJ, 08822.
The Funeral Service officiated by Fr. James Pavlow will follow the gathering at 11:00 a.m. at the church, and to which all are welcome.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
Graveside funeral services at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, will be announced by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, West Palm Beach, FL, 561-833-4061.
