Dear Dennis and Melissa, Your Mother was at first a court recorder for many depositions for my brother, Robert. She became a dear family friend through ten years of 'recording' for his case. The memories are many and at times it felt as though we were extended family. She absolutely loved her children and grandchildren and her beloved dogs. We lost touch some years ago. I was so sorry to learn of her passing. She will always be remembered for her kindness. May she rest in peace.

To all of Jackie's family, I am so sorry that Jackie passed and especially sorry that it was at the tail end of the holidays. She was my sister Kathy's Mother in Law. She was a very special person and there were a few times I remember seeing her on a few occaisions either at Kathy's house or at my Mom and Dad's. She must have been an exceptional Mother because her kids are really awesome people. May Angels care for and comfort her in her passage and may you also be comforted while you adjust to her absence. No doubt she still loves you all and nothing can destroy that love, not illness, not distance not death.

I knew Jackie for some 40 years through my work for the Democrat newspaper. In news reporting we got to pick and choose what to put in an article including only the best of quotes. But as court reporter, a stenographer, she had to record every single word, including the obvious lies and nonsensical remarks, the bad grammar and everything else that was uttered by the witnesses, the judge and all involved in “the show.” I know sometimes she saw a court case or public meeting as theater, with various characters, plots and sub-plots and other factors that make a great production. She always amused me with tales of politicians, mainly, asked her to “leave out” what somebody had stated or “clean up” the quote a bit. She calmly replied that her role was to create a transcript of everything that was said, not what someone wished had been said. Jackie remains an inspiration to many. Pat and I send our condolences to Dennis, Melissa and the grandchildren. We hope memories of her will bring them great comfort.

I am so sorry for your loss. I saw her recently at emergency room, she had such wonderful words of hoping I was ok. She was my angel that day, and I was really scared. She was our one and only court reporter for our law office, Scholl & Whittlesey. Peace be with your family. She talked so fondly of her family and of course her grandchildren. She was a true gem. My sincere condolences to Klapp family. Jackie was always there when we needed her and was loved and will be missed by all of the attorneys and staff in my firm. Not only was she a consummate professional, she was kind and compassionate to our clients who were often in a state of crisis in their lives when Jackie got to meet them. She would soothe them with her smile and comfort them at the end of a deposition by letting them know how well they did. Thank you Jackie, for always being you.

My heartfelt sympathies to the family . As a new lawyer many years ago my first deposition was with Jackie recording. Scared to death that I was making a fool of myself I looked to her, and once I got that 'knowing nod" and smile, all worked out fine. A great resource after every deposition to sit with her and get her take on the credibility of the witness. May she rest in peace. She sure earned it dealing with layers all her career!
