Janet Ann Johnson, age 82 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born on August 7, 1940, in Irvington, NJ, daughter of the late Michael and Viola Przebieglec Bulat, she had resided in Readington Township for over forty years.
Graduating from Irvington High School in 1958, Janet would further her education and earn her B.S. from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, NJ, in 1962.
With a passion for knowledge, Janet was as intelligent as she was beautiful. She believed in giving back to the community, and she did that by working extremely hard. In fact, she worked until the age of seventy-eight just because she felt that she was making a true difference for the better in the world, which she was! Her career included running the blood banks at both Hunterdon and Somerset Medical Centers, as well as working as a Research Scientist at Johnson and Johnson, Raritan, NJ. Her colleagues all recall Janet as a woman of warmth and personality, who always strove for perfection in all her endeavors.
It was in Freshman English at FDU where Janet would be admired by a Mr. Richard Johnson, who was sitting in the back as she sat way up front. There was something about her, as Richard fondly recalled, and as is evident that the pair would join hands in holy matrimony on June 11, 1961. Their union would bring them a daughter, Karen, and a son, Kevin, who would eventually promote Janet to an even more treasured role, that of grandma.
With a loving and caring attitude towards everyone, Janet and Richard lived life each day to the fullest, grounded in faith, and traveling the globe-from Hawaii to Greece, from Turkey to the wine country of France- creating many happy memories with each journey.
Having an affinity for the Jersey Shore, they maintained a home at Beach Haven on LBI where their children, grandchildren, and friends made many, many happy memories, all reminding them that family is the most important thing in the world. From a walk on the beach, to doing her Sunday crosswords, to reading a mountain of books, to jumping in the ocean with her grandchildren, everything was always better at the shore.
Though medical issues caused her much difficulty in the last year, Janet would still want each person reading this to find beauty no matter what, and the beauty from her suffering is the love and devotion of which Richard took care of his beloved, day in and day out, making sure her every need was met with the same love and compassion that guided their marriage for the past sixty-one years.
Janet would want to leave you, the reader, with these words, Just love what you choose and do what you love, every day! And also, go for a walk on the beach as that makes life worth living…
Surviving are her husband, Richard Johnson; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen J. Johnson and Edward Bass; her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin J. and Debra Johnson; her grandchildren, Keith Lester, Jessica Lester, Nicholas Bass, Kady Johnson, and Kyle Johnson; her great grandsons, Maxamilliano Queiros and Cole Magliulo; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
