John Alfred Tauscher, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023, at his home.
Born on August 11, 1932, in Metuchen, NJ, son of the late Alfred and Mary Tauscher, he was raised in Metuchen and had moved to Raritan Township fourteen years ago, having formerly lived in Colleyville, TX, Branchburg, NJ, and Fullerton, CA.
His younger years were a time of trial as the family did not have much money, so John learned the value of money and hard work at a young age. Entering the United States Army in 1952, he would be honorably discharged in 1954, and serve the next six years as a member of the United States Army Reserves.
With a business acumen second to none, he would work his way up through sweat and determination to become Director of Distribution for Mattel, Inc., overseeing hundreds of employees and a worldwide distribution network. Even after retirement, he was asked to work as a consultant for several years and enjoyed traveling around the world helping solve logistic and distributions issues.
Extremely well-read, John was very handy around the home and enjoyed many projects including refinishing basements, patios, and decks. In his younger years, he also greatly enjoyed taking photos.
John was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Ruth, who died on January 13, 2018, with John by her side. The two would have celebrated sixty years of marriage in March of 2018, having been married on March 15, 1958, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown, NJ. Their fairy-tale love was one for the books as the old adage states, and one that inspired many others to cherish their life partner.
It was John’s request to remind everyone that life is short, and to cherish every moment, as the pandemic kept him from seeing and spending time with his grandchildren, which saddened him.
In addition to his parents and Ruth, John was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth John Tauscher, and his sister, Ellen Ward.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John K. and Kathryn L. Tauscher and Michael P. and Lisa Tauscher; his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as ‘Grandpop’, John H. and his wife, Kelly Tauscher, Keith A. Tauscher and his wife, Gail Geschwind, and Scott A. Tauscher; his caregiver, Kathy Kushner, whose two years of loved and devoted care to John is so appreciated; and several extended family members and friends.
Cremation at the Chapel of Somerset Hills Memorial Park Crematory and Life Celebration Services are private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
