Jozef R. Blyskal, age 72 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died suddenly on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at his home.
Born in Gbiska, Poland, September 22, 1948, son of the late Franciszek and Stanislawa Blyskal, Jozef emigrated to the United States in 1975, settling first in Elizabeth, NJ, then moving to Edison, NJ where he lived for thirty-five years prior to moving to Raritan Township five years ago.
An extremely hard and diligent worker, Jozef worked as an electrician for General Motors, Linden, NJ, for most of his career and was a member of the UAW. He was well regarded among his colleagues as a knowledgeable electrician who would help anyone at any time.
A true jack of all trades, Jozef was extremely skilled and was always learning new things. He loved to build and create, and happily built his home in Edison as well as assisted in building his children’s homes. He was known to be there for family and friends for anything they needed, and was happiest when he could help someone.
Jozef’s personality was one that lived for making others smile. Seeing other people laughing and having fun gave him a true sense of peace. His family was his world and he will be forever remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
It was at the age of nineteen in Poland where Jozef would meet a young Elzbieta while the two were going to school; it was love at first sight and though Elzbieta emigrated to the United States, and Jozef pursued work in Germany, they would meet back in Poland several years later and marry on August 30, 1975 in Strzyzow, Poland. Their union would result in three children and three grandchildren, which were the light in Jozef’s world. He loved being a Dziadziu and was so happy to live just up the street from them.
Having many hobbies, besides fixing and building things, Jozef greatly enjoyed fishing, boating and anything to do with the water. He and his family had a summer home in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, where many happy memories were made over the years.
Though his life was much shorter than anyone expected, the light he projected and the path he created will guide his family and friends for generations to come.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jan.
Surviving are his wife, Elzbieta Blyskal; a son and daughter-in-law, Tomasz and Laure Blyskal; a daughter, Beata Blyskal; a son, Pawel Blyskal; his grandchildren, Lucas, Philip and Timothy Blyskal; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucyna and Stanislaw Kasprzycki and Halina and Wladyslaw Galej; a sister-in-law, Kazimiera Blyskal; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henryk and Maria Patryn; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Teresa and Krysztof Irzyk; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., as well as on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 9:30-10:00 a.m., all in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
