Karen Stefania DeStefano, age 66 years, of Flemington, NJ, died peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Center for Hope Hospice, Elizabeth, NJ, after a very long battle with cancer, which she bravely fought for many years.
Born on May 10, 1958, in Irvington, NJ, daughter of Evelyn Jean Leszega and the late to Orest Nicholas Leszega, she was their second born and only and favorite daughter.
Karen graduated from J. P. Stephen’s High School in 1976, worked for WR Grace, and then went on to cultivate a successful career as a Graphic Artist for NTD and Bell Atlantic. In later years, she ran her own business, “Forever Fairytale”, where she hand created dazzling custom wedding cake toppers.
Marrying Michael DeStefano in 1981, their union gave them a daughter, Victoria Marie (De Stefano) Patten who was the song of her mother’s heart.
Best known for her myriad of creative talents: designing, graphics, sewing, clothing design, decorating, gardening, and writing, there was simply nothing she could not create, build, invent or improve! Her “beauty was matched only by her wit”, and her warm and full laugh included everyone as a friend. She will be deeply missed for her devoted and warm heart, healing words of advice and comfort, and for her intelligence and enthusiasm.
In addition to her father, Karen was preceded in death by her brother,Thomas Leszega last year.
Karen is survived by her mother, Evelyn Jean Leszega; her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Edward Patten; her granddaughter’s, Valentina and Juliette Patten; her brothers, Michael Leszega and Stephen Leszega; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
