Kevin E. Shanoski, Esq., age 61 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, returned home to the Lord on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ.
Born on March 12, 1961, in East Orange, NJ, son of the late Stanley Robert and Virginia Bettel Shanoski. Kevin grew up in Union, NJ, ultimately settling in Raritan Township, NJ, where he has resided for the last twenty-seven years.
Kevin graduated from Union High School in 1979 and went on to earn his B.A. in communications from Seton Hall University in 1983. His education during this time allowed him to explore his love of film, music, and the arts in general.
Following his undergraduate education, Kevin proposed to Ms. Anna Maria Carnovale, whom he met while at a “basement house party” after they both had graduated from Union High School.
The couple joined hands in holy matrimony at St. Michael’s Church, Union, NJ, on October 22, 1983. At Kevin’s passing the couple had been married for thirty-nine joyful years. Their relationship was grounded in mutual respect, unrelenting faith, and true love. They simply enjoyed being around one another; they shared many beautiful memories of time spent with their friends and family and traveling around the world.
Kevin is also survived by his daughter, Veronica, and son, Thomas. Kevin took great pride in being a father and was dedicated to his children beyond all measure. As a father, Kevin was gentle, kind, and encouraging; he was a steadfast protector and provider. Kevin will be missed immensely, but his values and spirit will live on his children.
After graduating from Seton Hall, Kevin began working in the insurance industry as an adjustor, which he quickly surmised was not a great fit. He began to explore his options and took interest in becoming an attorney. He soon enrolled in Seton Hall University School of Law and graduated with his J.D. in 1990.
Kevin would then join Chubb, where he would go on to have a thirty-year career. Kevin both served on and lead many teams at Chubb throughout his tenure. Kevin will be remembered as a gifted attorney, confident team leader, and a sharp legal mind.
Kevin was a devoted and faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church. He was a longtime communicant of St. Magdalen Church, in Flemington, NJ. Kevin served on the Church’s Finance Committee and provided a great deal of pro bono legal advice to the parish. Kevin was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Jubilee Council #3294, Flemington, NJ, and was very involved in the activities the Knights undertook to help the community.
Though ambitious in career, and steadfast in his Catholic faith; Kevin was a lighthearted man with a great sense of humor. Kevin had a diverse array of interests; outside of work Kevin was a good time guy. He loved grilling and more specifically, smoking meats, and generously opening his home to his friends and family. Kevin loved music, with his favorite band, The Rolling Stones. He has seen countless live shows and had a deep knowledge of all things rock and blues. Kevin also enjoyed traveling and was grateful to have spent time exploring Europe with his wife and friends.
Though his passing was sudden and unexpected, Kevin would not want anyone to mourn his death in vain. Kevin’s faith animated his life, he believed in the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s promise of life beyond the physical realm. May the Lord’s words serve as a reminder in your grief for Kevin, “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore, the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes” Book of Revelation 7: 16-17. May God’s almighty power guide us during this time of despair over Kevin’s death, we shall meet him again while wrapped in God’s embrace.
As Kevin enters God’s Kingdom, he leaves behind his adoring wife, Anna Maria Carnovale Shanoski; his children, Veronica Shanoski and Thomas Shanoski, Esq.; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Allyson Shanoski; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hilda and Frank Carnovale, Sr.; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kimberly and Frank Carnovale, Jr., and Kathy and Paul Carnovale; many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family; his Chubb colleagues; and many dear friends.
