In Loving Memory of Mr. Loc P. Nguyen (1938 – 2025)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Loc P. Nguyen, who peacefully left us on February 28, 2025, at the age of 86. A man of high integrity, valor, and unwavering principles, Mr. Nguyen’s life was defined by his love for his family, his belief in freedom, and his commitment to hard work and perseverance.
Born in Sadec, Vietnam, in 1938, Mr. Nguyen grew up in Saigon and proudly served as an officer in the Republic of Vietnam Navy. Throughout his service, he held a deep belief in the importance of freedom, dedicating himself to protect it for his country. When the Fall of Vietnam occurred in 1975, Mr. Nguyen made the difficult decision to stay behind to care for his elderly parents, enduring four years in a re-education camp. In 1980, seeking freedom and opportunity in America, the greatest democratic country, Mr. Nguyen escaped Vietnam with his family to build a better life for his children.
Mr. Nguyen’s belief in the United States as the land of opportunity was unwavering. He arrived with nothing but the hope that his children would have the chance to achieve their dreams through hard work and education. Mr. Nguyen was deeply grateful for the freedoms he found in the U.S., and every time he saw an American flag, he was reminded of the privilege of living in a country where dreams could come true for those who persevered.
Liberty State Park, with its view of the Statue of Liberty, was a place of great pride for Mr. Nguyen. It reminded him of the freedom he had fought to protect and the opportunities he found in the U.S. It symbolized everything he believed in: the promise of a better life for those who dared to dream.
Mr. Nguyen was married to his wife, Mrs. Bach Mai Truong, for nearly 60 years, passing away just three months shy of their anniversary. Together, they built a family grounded in love, sacrifice, and the pursuit of freedom. Mr. Nguyen was also a passionate lover of music, continuing to play guitar even in his later years, and finding joy in simple moments like picking wildflowers for his wife.
Through his tireless work and dedication, Mr. Nguyen enabled his children—Bach Lieu, Lam Son, Ai Tam, and Trong Nhan—to receive a good education and pursue successful careers. His pride in their accomplishments was immeasurable, and he often spoke of how grateful he was for the opportunity to see their dreams realized.
Mr. Nguyen is also survived by his eight grandchildren, whose success reflects the legacy of his sacrifices. His life is a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of family, and the freedom that he fought for and cherished.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Nguyen’s ashes will be returned to his hometown in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, where he will be laid to rest in the family burial ground, forever connected to the land he loved.
Mr. Nguyen’s journey as a first-generation immigrant, his commitment to freedom, and his belief in the American Dream serve as an inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren, and his story will continue to remind us that dreams are achieved through hard work, integrity, and dedication.
