Loretta Jenny Vega, age 89 years, of Old Bridge, NJ, died on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township, NJ.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, November 30, 1931, daughter of the late William and Mary Malico Edele, Loretta grew up in the Forest Hills section of Queens, NY, prior to moving to Old Bridge many years ago.
A homemaker, that title simply does not do justice to the amazing mother Loretta was, is and will always be to those who loved her most.
It was after the sudden death of her cherished husband, George Main Vega in 1973, where Loretta’s title as “Mother” would take on an entirely new meaning as she became both mother and father to her five children, ages 15 to 8 years old. She managed to raise them all to be caring, thoughtful members of society, and her children would all agree that though they were not the easiest from time to time, Loretta always made sure they knew they were loved and created in God’s most noble image.
Her catholic faith was of paramount importance to her, and she credited it over the years for getting her through many a difficult day. She would also credit her faith with for helping the right Bingo numbers come up!
Though saddened by her sudden passing, her children and family take heart knowing that she is reunited with her husband and son, and experiencing nothing but light, peace and happiness as we hear in 2 Timothy 4:8, Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
In addition to her husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her son, George “Butch” Vega.
Surviving are her children, Kathy and her husband, Martin Wever, Cookie and her husband, Michael Batt, Anthony Vega, and Mary Vega; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Weaver, Melissa batt, Gregoryy batt, Joseph Benco, and Jessica benco; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
