Louis Anthony Saparito, Sr., age 92 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at home, surrounded by his loving family and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born in Garwood, NJ, December 26, 1926, son of the late Carmine and Mary Roca Saparito, Louis was raised in Garwood and had lived in Flemington, NJ, Vero Beach, FL and had moved to Kingwood four years ago to be closer to family.
A facility manager for Accurate Bushing in Garwood for over forty years, he was a member of “the greatest generation” who lived for his family and friends and put others first in all that he did.
Louis was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre and being honorably discharged in 1946.
A faithful communicant of Our Lady of Victories Parish, St. Magdalen Church, and St. John of the Cross Parish, Louis was very involved, especially in the music ministry. He loved to sing in the choir as well as play the harmonica. For him, music spoke to the soul where words were inadequate. Involved in many other areas of Church life, he was especially proud of being a third degree Knight of Columbus.
He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and dancing. He and his beloved wife, Lois, were known for “cutting a rug” on the dance floor and their “jitterbug” was legendary. This was especially unique due to the fact that Louis was 6’2″ and Lois was only 4’11”!
Louis was also an avid golfer who had six holes-in-one during his lifetime of which he was quite proud.
Humble by nature, to tell the story of Louis is to say that he instilled values in the large family he was proud to raise. His legacy of living each day to the fullest, taking responsibility for one’s actions, and to always put family first will not soon be forgotten.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Lois, who died in 2015, he was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Surviving are his children, Louis Anthony Saparito, Jr. and Karen Saparito, Lynne A. and Peter Maddalena, and Lawrence and Cynthia Saparito; his grandchildren, Nikki, Sarah, Rachel and Frank, Michael and Chelsea, Pete and Amanda, Jessica and Jon, Abigail and Gerry, Anna, Nicholas, Christian, Matthew, Katie, and Anthony; his great grandchildren, William, Jeanne, Kacie, Ryann, Brynn, Jacob, Adam, Erin, Jack, and Domenic; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Carol Wilson; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Kris Kaczynski will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Victories Parish, 1005 Route 519, Baptistown, NJ 08803 under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Following the luncheon, all are invited to join the family at 1:45 p.m. at St. Magdalen Mausoleum, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ, where Louis will be entombed with military honors.
In Florida, there will be a memorial mass for family and friends who are unable to make it to New Jersey. The mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Louis’s former parish, St. John of the Cross, 7550 26th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32966. All are welcome.
