Marilyn Torres, age 63 years, of Flemington, NJ, returned to the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
Born in New York City, NY on August 19, 1957, she was the daughter of Carmen Velez Calderon and the late Pedro Torres. Raised in Brooklyn, NY, she spent some time in New Mexico for her eduction and came to Flemington in 1994.
A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and abuela, Marilyn loved to laugh and spend time with family. She would do anything for her children and grandchildren and was involved with her kids activities at every stage. She volunteered and coached with Flemington-Raritan Baseball and was part of the Pioneers Booster Club.
A sports fanatic in her own right, Marilyn loved football and baseball and played softball. Constantly rooting for the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers, Marilyn was also an amazing dancer and her outgoing personality was always the life of any party.
Her cheesey, infectious grin made anyone comfortable around her, and she had a warrior spirit beating breast cancer in 2002.
A longtime member of St. Magdalen Church, Marilyn relied on her faith to get her through the best of times, as well as times that were more difficult. She would want all those reading this to remember that her love will never die and that loving and accepting others is the best way to live life.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandma, Isabel Velez; an aunt, Norma Garcia; and her step-father, Louis Calderon.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Ted Rounsaville; her children, Brian Torres, Michael Torres, Stephen Thompson, Jeremy Thompson, Heather Thompson, and Melanie Thompson; her sisters, Evelyn Romano and Lisa Calderon; her grandchildren, Cameron and Issac Torres; her grand-pups, Luna and Apollo; many extended family; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Matthew Marinelli will be celebrated at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
