Marshall Gene Martin, 75, passed away suddenly on October 28, 2022 after a valiant 20-year battle with cancer and more recently, heart issues.
Gene was born on February 10, 1947 in Downingtown, PA, to Marshall E. and Mary Hall Martin. He graduated from Downingtown High School in 1965 and received a BS in Education from West Chester State College in 1969. Gene met his soulmate, Linda Martin (no relation), in college. They married two weeks after graduating and had 53 happy years together.
For 18 years, Gene taught middle school Social Studies and coached football and wrestling in Bensalem, PA. Looking for a new adventure, Gene and Linda moved to Grantham. Gene held several sales positions before finding his niche in the automotive industry. He retired from White River Toyota in 2013 as Customer Relations Manager.
Gene was always intellectually curious and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his enjoyment of sports. Those who knew him would describe him as intelligent, gentle, kind, loyal, supportive, and generous.
Gene is survived by his wife Linda and his brother James of Coatesville, PA. He is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Ruth Martin, niece Jennifer Martin, and nephews Eric and Gregory Martin, all living in PA. He will be lovingly remembered by many friends and colleagues.
Sincere thanks to Dr. Gregory Ripple, his oncologist who provided excellent care throughout the last 20 years.
Memorial contributions can be sent to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in support of the Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center or at https://dhmcalumdev.hitchcock.org/giving/cancer-care-support.
