Nancy Ann Schneider, age 76 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ.
Nancy was born at Somerset Hospital in Somerville, NJ, in 1946 and was the daughter of the late John and Marion (Queen) Jacob.
Nancy was raised in Raritan Township and was a life long member of Amwell Church of the Brethren. When she was young, she enjoyed participating in the Christian Endeavor group at her church, roller skating, hanging out with her siblings, cousins, and friends, and she was a Girl Scout. Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School and worked at Bemis after graduation. In 1967, Nancy married Jim Schneider. Together, they started their family in Delaware Township and moved to their current family home in Kingwood Township in 1977, where they raised their three children.
While their children were young, Nancy was a homemaker while also providing daycare to many other children in their community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, assisted with the Cub Scouts, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and was an active member of the PTA and Band Boosters. She was often found transporting her three children to various extracurricular activities and often served as a room parent at their schools. Jim and Nancy enjoyed vacationing in their camper with their family, most often in Williamsburg, Virginia and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Nancy enjoyed baking for her family, making pine cone wreaths, pine wreaths and grave blankets, and doing other various crafts and sewing. She also enjoyed summer gardening and loved her indoor plants and flowers. As a young woman, she became a member of the Amwell Busy Bees, and enjoyed being an active member of the group, over the years, particularly after her retirement.
In 1989, Nancy returned to the workforce, outside the home. She worked the early shift, stocking shelves, at Jamesway up until its closing. Following that, she worked at Hunterdon Medical Center, starting in housekeeping, moving to general transport and then finally ending up in transportation for the operating room, where she was working when she retired, in 2011, after 18 years of service to HMC.
Prior to retiring, Nancy welcomed four grandchildren to the family, starting in 1999. She was a loving and doting Grama/Grandma and her grandchildren have many fond memories of the times they spent with her, including movie nights, board games, holidays, birthdays, and just hanging out. Since retiring, Nancy also enjoyed a very special card ministry, scrapbooking, being part of Kingwood’s Merry Mixers, and she continued to enjoy baking, particularly when it was for her family member’s special events/occasions. Until her health made it difficult, she continued to be an active member of Amwell Church of the Brethren and the Busy Bees.
Throughout her own medical struggles, Nancy was always trying to make sure that others were taken care of. Whether it was a meal she would make, dessert she would bake, phone calls to check in, or her special cards just to say she was thinking of you, Nancy had a way of making everyone know she cared and was thinking of them.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is predeceased by her brothers, Frank Jacob and Richard Jacob. She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, James Schneider; her sister, Rose Neeble of Easton, PA; her daughter, Lisa Mazeika and her husband Albert Marube of Bloomsbury, NJ; her son, Roger Schneider and his wife Lisa, of Milford, NJ; and her daughter, Tanya Drake and her husband, Jim of Kingwood Township. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Tiffany Mazeika, Brianna Schneider, Brayden Schneider, and Abigail Drake, many sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends. Surely, she will be sorely missed by all.
