Paula Marie Kurtas, age 65 years, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at her home, with her loving husband, Robert by her side.
She was born in Plainfield, NJ, on January 14, 1959, daughter of the late Joe Zolnowski Jr. and Barbara Campanelli Zolnowski.
During her developmental years, Paula loved performing in the ballet and let her artistic spirit soar. She would meet her future husband, Robert Kurtas, and their union would bring them two children, Heather and Steve. Paula would thrive in this role as a loving mom, and she and Robert made a truly dynamic couple.
Paula simply wanted to live life making everyone around her happy. The best example of this would be each year at Easter, her favorite holiday, she would gather her entire family around the table to celebrate a true feast and celebration.
She unselfishly followed her husband, Robert, around the country for his work. His job locations carried them from southern and central NJ, to Torrance, CA, and Frankfort, IL, before finally settling in PA. Through all the relocations, her motherly love guided her children, Heather and Steve, as they would grow by adjusting to different schools, finding new doctors, making new friends, etc. This led to new adventures wherever they went.
Paula loved to go on vacation with the family to the beaches in California and Florida. She enjoyed visiting Lake Havasu, Disneyland, and especially visiting the sequoia trees in the Redwood Forest. In Florida, she enjoyed visiting Disney World and Universal Studios, where many happy memories where made.
Paula is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Andrew Padgett; son, Steve Kurtas; her brothers, Joe Zolnowski III and Brian Zolnowski; her sister and brother-in-law, Christine Chatten and Michael Chatten; her sister-in-law, Lucy Shamy, and her spouse, Gary Shamy; nieces, Amanda, Courtney, Brooke, Vivienne, Lena, and Jennifer; and her nephews, Ryan, Joe IV, and Brian; and many dear friends.
Family and friends will gather on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. There will be an additional period of visitation on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Catholic Vigil service officiated by Rev. Jose Lim, followed by reflections from family and friends, will take place at 3:30 p.m on Sunday and to which all are welcome.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Jose Lim will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ 08801, under the care and direction of Wright & Ford.
