We are so sorry to hear this news. We have so many memories of Rick as coach of the Readington Rampage. Some great debates about his coaching style but honestly the best memories were made. Rick was so loved and respected. Sending love and prayers to all his boys, Matt, Jared and Jonathon. I know he treasured you all. So very sorry for your loss.

Rick’s life and mine intersected for about thirty years at Grotta Glassman & Hoffman and Fox, Rothschild. Even though our upbringings were very different, and he was an athlete and I was the opposite -- we discovered we had a lot in common beneath the surface -- the way we engaged with what we loved. Rick was charismatic, and people at both firms were drawn to him. At times, he seemed a big bear at play with the world. To watch him eat with such gusto was a life-changing experience – two appetizers, two entrees and three desserts. Not that he would finish, but that there were too many great tastes to dine within limits. Rick was, to my mind, addicted to life in ways both very good and very bad. The bad ways posed huge challenges, which he ultimately overcame with a titanic effort. He suffered huge losses throughout his life –- grandparents to a train that went off the tracks, mother and first wife to cancer –- but his deep delight at being alive broke through these tragedies and held sway He rediscovered himself with Betsy, and watching his sons grow into men burst him open with pride. He shared with me how his mother had been his mentor, urging this small-town boy, who was all-everything in high school, to seek a larger life, which opened to him at Cornell. During times of great challenge at Grotta, Glassman, Rick was the one I could trust absolutely. His loyalty was a rock, immovable -- and we had a perfect understanding during those days of duress. Rick could be as open and naïve as a child, yet deep as a river, as your deepest secret. We shared a book-full of gut experiences, but we also talked our way through literature, art, philosophy, religion, New York Giants football, and how attached we were to our dogs. So much wonder, so much joy. His enthusiasms enlarged the world. We spent a miraculous weekend in Eastport, Maine, where he used to vacation in the summers. The whole time was soul-to-soul. His leaving has carried part of me too far away.

my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Rick was a great friend as we grew up in Bainbridge. We still maintained contact after all these years. He was our high school quarterback and I was the center.... we always joked that he was the only man to tickle me from behind and I liked it..lol. His generosity and crackling laugh will forever cast my memory of him. His professional successes and life challenges that he overcame shaped a legacy to his family and friends in ways that to this day will be remembered as his greatest achievements. He lived an eventful and rewarding life He will be missed by me and many of his Prine Hill friends and classmates.A legend!
