Robert Collumb, age 75 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Monday, April 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice. Fighting for over two years to stay here with those he loved, the good Lord decided it was now time to bring him Home.
Born in Newark, NJ, December 8, 1945, son of the late Peter and Rose Coffey Collumb, he was raised in Newark, NJ and graduated from Eastside High School. After graduation, Robert served honorably in the United States Navy. He then settled down with his first love, Mary (Jelinski) with whom he raised six children in Flemington, NJ. Sadly, Mary passed away in 2008.
He worked as an Iron Worker out of local 11 for forty years as one of the most skilled rodmen. An active member and previous commander of American Legion Post 159, Flemington, NJ, Robert worked tirelessly with veterans groups and for the veterans themselves.
After Mary passed away, he enjoyed his corvette, car shows, and helping others. Then, he was lucky enough to find love a second time, when he met Christine Kelly. After they were married, the couple traveled and enjoyed time with family and friends at their home down the shore.
To those that knew him, Robert will be remembered for his quick dry wit, charm, and boyish good looks.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his siblings, Margaret and Peter, as well as by his first wife, Mary, and his second wife, Christine.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Dawn Collumb, Monica and Scott Quackenbush, Regina and Eugene Strube, Robert Collumb Jr. and Antoinette, Kelly Collumb, and Gabrielle Collumb; his grandchildren, Daniel, Elexes, Sydney, Skylar, Justin, Olivia, Vanessa, Gabriel, and Emma; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Rest in peace Robert, we will see you on the other side.
