Robert Leroy Linzer, age 82 years, longtime resident of Clinton, NJ, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born at home in Glen Gardner, NJ, October 10, 1942, son of the late Leroy and Lillie Daniels Linzer, Bob was a lifelong Hunterdon County, NJ resident who lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and made many cherished memories along the way.
A proud graduate of North Hunterdon High School, Class of 1962, he dedicated over thirty five years of his life as a machine operator at Readington Farms in Whitehouse Station, NJ, where he was admired and respected for his hard work and dedication.
Bob was a man of the outdoors, finding joy in activities such as fishing, hunting, and camping. He had a special place in his heart for his cats, and any gathering that involved outdoor games would surely find him in high spirits. You never wanted to sit down to play a game of cards with Bob unless you were ready to not win, but though he would ensure he took the pot each and every time, everyone still enjoyed sitting around the fire pit, laughing and making memories together.
His love for family and friends was unparalleled. It can all be traced back to more than sixty years ago when a very young Bob rode his bike past the Sutton home on his way to work at a local farm. One of the Sutton girls, Mildred, happened to be on the porch and Bob got up the courage to stop and chat; the rest as they say, is history!
Bob and his cherished wife, Mildred, were so proud of the life they created. Their two sons, Tim and Scott, were the light of both Bob and Mildred’s eyes and the families they created only made the Linzer clan even more special. Bob tried and succeeded in earning the title of a true ‘Patriarch’, admired for his tenderness as much as his outgoing persona.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bob was a true, world renowned bowler in his own mind, and he was a fan who passionately rooted for his New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Rangers. His most treasured moments in sports though, were spent supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events, proudly serving as their biggest fan. He will surely be rooting his great grandchildren on from the sky as well!
Traveling was something he and Mildred enjoyed immensely, and no story about Bob would be complete without mentioning their annual family vacations to Canada. Simply put, any time with family and friends, making memories, was what Bob wanted to be doing and anyone who came across his path, is better for having met him.
Though Bob will be missed, before he died he said that he did not want anyone to mourn for him, but rather to continue to live and love one another until we are all reunited one day.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Carol, and her husband, Jake Quick, and a great granddaughter, Poppy Linzer.
Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Mildred E. Sutton Linzer are his two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Terri Linzer and Scott and Kimberly Linzer; his grandchildren, Tori Linzer, TJ and wife, Morgan Linzer, Neal Linzer and his longtime girlfriend, Meadow, Maggie Linzer, Jessica Dalpe and her husband, Ryan Donoghue, Stephanie Grijalva and her husband, Zeb, and Matthew and his wife, Gabi Linzer; his great grandchildren, Lucy Linzer and Grayson Grijalva; his sister, Jean Curasi; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Nancy Linzer; a sister-in-law, Betty Izzard; a brother-in-law, William Sutton; his feline companions, Kelly, Pooh, Tigger, Rosie, Max, and Mitzi; several nieces, nephews and extended family; and many dear friends.
