Ron Mastellone, age 89 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, best known for his capacity to love and support of all his children and grandchildren, whether brought to him by blood or fate, Ron cherished nothing more in life than bringing his family together for gatherings and celebrations.
“Passionate Patriot” is an appropriate phrase to describe this man who always spoke his mind and stood up for the things he believed in; he was also never one to back down from his principles, even when it would have been the popular thing to do. A member of the United States Air Force, Ron faithfully volunteered and served his country for four years before being honorably discharged. During his time in the Air Force, Ron bucked authority at every turn when authority figures acted out of step with his beliefs, yet he survived all four years! This passion of always being “real” would continue throughout his life.
In his later years, he would become a “reluctant” dog owner who would always end up deeply loving his furry “children”.
Truly a man with a GIANT heart, Ron never flinched at letting everyone know it and this world will always be a bit brighter because of the love he shared…and still does.
Surviving are his wife, Maddy Distell Mastellone; sons and their spouses Mitch and Jess Mastellone and Rob and Jen Distell; daughters and their spouses, Linda Mastellone, Mary Ellen and Gerry Clyne, Ann and Andy Irmiere, and Stephanie and Chris Capasso; a brother and sister-in-law, Max and Marie Mastellone; ten grandchildren, Patrick, Jeffrey, Morgan, Rebecca, Mandi, Dylan, Lauren, Mikayla, Marie, and Allison; a great granddaughter, Grace; many extended family members; and many dear friends.
