Ronald Stanley Schwanke III, age 55 years, of Ottsville, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the home of his aunt, Bonnie Sautner, and under the caring watch of St. Luke’s Hospice.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, July 2, 1966, son of Cheryl Cronce Bruehl and Ronald Stanley Schwanke II, he had lived in Ottsville, PA for many years.
A fabricator for Custom Elevators, Plumsteadville, PA, Ron was well known for his skills and ingenuity in solving the most complex of issues.
Making friends easily, Ron was truly a man who epitomized the old adage of giving the shirt off your back to help someone. If someone was in trouble or needed anything, Ron would be the first person there for a friend or a stranger. He held an unyielding faith in the Lord, and looked at all people as God’s children, worthy of love and compassion. Ron simply acted in the way he believed God would want him to act to help his fellow man.
A car enthusiast, as a youngster Ron worked in a junkyard just to be able to tinker and learn on the old cars that were brought in to be scrapped. This tinkering allowed him to earn the title of, “Mr. Fix-It” among family and friends, as there was not much mechanical that Ron could not fix if broken or damaged. He simply just had a mechanical mind.
With a love of riding both bicycles and motorcycles, he had several BMX titles to his name from when he was a child. As an adult, Ron enjoyed riding his Honda Shadow motorcycle and could also be found watching stock car racing whenever the ability presented itself.
Though the course of his life was dramatically altered upon receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, Ron never let that break him, nor destroy his faith. Until his last breath, he lived life for others, in service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In 2 Timothy 4: 7-8, we hear the words: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. Ron, you have finished the race and received the ultimate prize; rest easy now in the place where there is no pain or suffering, but only light, peace and hope.
Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly Mayersky; and his grandmothers, Elva Sautner and Elizabeth Buck.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Cheryl and John Bruehl; his sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer Cavallo and Carlos Cruz; a brother-in-law, James Mayersky; a niece, Michelle Mayersky; a nephew, Carson Cruz; his aunt and uncle with whom he shared a special bond, Bonnie and Alfred Sautner; his aunt, Bonnie Cronce; many extended family members; and many dear friends.
