Sarah Agnes D’Amico, age 81 years, of the Three Bridges section of Readington Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Monday, April 19, 2021, surrounded by her cherished family.
Born in Albany, NY, October 19, 1939, Sarah was raised in Poughkeepsie, NY and had resided in the Flemington, NJ area for more than 30 years.
A loving mother, Nana and child of God, Sarah was well known as the co-owner and operator, along with her daughter, Dina, of New Creations Florist, Three Bridges, NJ. From weddings to funerals, Mother’s Day to ‘just because’, Sarah was responsible for bringing joy and happiness into many people’s lives through the beauty of flowers and nature.
Since childhood, Sarah always possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and was involved in owning and running some type of business. Coming from a very tough upbringing, Sarah was determined to ensure that her children and grandchildren did not want for anything, and she showed them, by example, that through hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
A devoted mother to her three children and Nana to her five grandchildren, Sarah was a true matriarch. She was there for her family as a listening ear with advice that was usually right on point. She also was always there to ensure they were well fed. It was a running joke among family and friends that though she was not born Italian, Sarah was one of the best Italian cooks out there! Her sauce and eggplant parmigiana were legendary.
In addition to loving her family and working hard at every endeavor, Sarah also enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, with the roulette wheel at the Tropicana being on her list of first stops. Wherever she went, she brought a smile with her and truly tried to appreciate every moment.
A deeply spiritual person, Sarah was a longtime communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Three Bridges, NJ. Reflecting on her life, Sarah mentioned that her favorite flower was a poppy. A poppy has always been the symbol of sleep and peace, so it is no coincidence that Sarah knew though her body would eventually go to eternal rest, that her spirit would live on and she would see all those she loved once more, and truly be at peace at home with the Father.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Kilmer, as well as by her former husband, Joseph D’Amico.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Michele D’Amico and Daniel Erlandson, Dina D’Amico-Brobst and Scott Brobst, and Joseph and Elisa D’Amico; her grandchildren, Haley Brobst, Grace Brobst, Francis Brobst, Saralina D’Amico-Erlandson, and Louisa D’Amico-Erlandson; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
Following the gathering, a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Thomas Serafin will take place at 1:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ.
It is important to remember that given the current state of the pandemic, masks must be worn at all times on funeral home and church grounds, and social distancing must be maintained. Please follow the instructions of the Wright & Ford Care Team Family Ambassadors upon arrival at each location.
