It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy Farrell, who left us on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and his impact on all who knew him will be remembered forever.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his son, TJ, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, as well as his two granddaughters, Charlotte and Bailey, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy, nephew, Bryan, godson John, sister-in-law Joan, and her daughters, Laura and Lisa, along with nieces Jade, Diane, and Danielle, and nephew Steven. Additionally, Tommy is mourned by his dear friend Dave, who was like a brother to him. He is also survived by his many Farrell cousins, who were a cherished part of his life.
Tommy was born with a natural spirit of strength and resilience, and he carried that energy throughout every stage of his life. As a two-time Golden Glove boxer in his youth, Tommy learned the power of determination and charm early on. His ability to make friends wherever he went was a testament to his generous heart, and he was well-loved by all who knew him.
For over 40 years, Tommy worked as a hairstylist, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His love for sports, particularly Alabama football and Villanova basketball, was well-known. He especially enjoyed rooting for his son’s teams, often just to tease TJ, but he truly loved spending time with his family. His greatest joy was being surrounded by them, especially his granddaughters, Charlotte and Bailey, who brought out the soft side of the tough, strong man he was.
Tommy and Barbara shared a wonderful life together, moving from New Jersey to Wilkes-Barre, PA, then to Fort Lauderdale, FL, and finally returning to New Jersey. Through every transition, Tommy’s love for his family never wavered, and he took pride in being a father and, later, a grandfather. He always treasured the time spent with his granddaughters, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
Tommy’s legacy of kindness, humor, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a man who could light up any room, make friends everywhere, and always put family first. Rest in peace, Tommy. You will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know you.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held on a later date.
All arrangements are under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
