Tia Marie Christie, age 32 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in South Carolina.

Born on February 26,1989 at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, daughter of Harold McDougal Christie and Theresa (Penn) Valentino in Flemington, NJ, Tia was a lifelong resident of Raritan Township who most recently was employed by Copper Hill Country Club, Ringoes, NJ.

A brilliant writer since childhood, Tia constantly had a pen to paper, writing her heart out. Whether through journal entries, candid poetic works, or original music, Tia’s writing provided her with the opportunity to speak from the depths of her soul in a way that spoken words could simply do no justice. Tia’s collection of writing grew with her, but one thing that never changed, was her unique ability to touch the lives of others through words she so passionately wrote.

A lover of the outdoors, Tia enjoyed nature in various forms. She adored catering to her garden with her daughter, Charlie, ensuring that every seed she planted was nourished and cared for. She loved horseback riding, going to the beach, chats and laughing around a firepit, and making the very best mashed potatoes, banana/chocolate chip bread and of course eating.

Tia’s zest for life remains unmatched. No matter the challenges she faced, she courageously continued onward, only stopping to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone in need of a little extra love. Tia was a strong believer in the art of forgiveness. She never held a grudge and understood that people are perfectly imperfect and deserving of a second chance to “do better.” Tia was unafraid to laugh at herself and her self-proclaimed “clumsiness,” which became a running joke between herself, friends, and family. Her smile was contagious.

We would like Tia to be remembered as laughing, “trying” to dance and walking on her tiptoes, as well as her beautiful soul.

Tia is survived by her beautiful and cherished daughter, Charlotte Theresa Hood; her father, Harold Christie and his wife, Cathy; her mother, Theresa Valentino and her husband, Anthony; her brothers, Anthony, Frankie, & Joey Valentino; her sister, Jocelyn Christie; numerous extended family; and many dear friends.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.

Life celebration services will follow the gathering beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
