Eugene George Doby, Sr., age 93, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at Independence Manor in Flemington. He was born on June 21, 1915, in Raritan Township, NJ the son of the late Kalman and Susanna Doby and lived in Raritan Township all his life. George worked in General Motors before serving in the US Navy during WWII. After the War he started a surplus business with his brother-in-law John Ando. He operated an Excavating business called “Doby and Ando” until 1970 when Eugene Doby Jr. joined his father in the business calling it “Doby & Son”. In recent years he spent most of his years in Stuart Florida. He was a member of American Legion Post 159 in Flemington. His wife Helen Doby pre-deceased him in 1992. Surviving are a sister, Margaret Piantieri of New York; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Susanna and Walter Bird of Darien, Ill, Son and Daughter-in-Law, Eugene and Elizabeth Doby Jr. of Flemington, NJ, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Nancy and Richard Karas Sr. of Flemington, NJ; Grandchildren and spouses, Steven Bird of Seattle Washington, Eugene and Diane Bird of Australia, Deborah and Matthew Klein of Oak Brook, Ill, Richard and Melissa Karas Jr. of Jackson, NJ, Linda and Steven Hansen Sr. of Flemington, NJ and two Great Grand Children, Steven Hansen Jr. and Aidan Karas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, N.J. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen’s Cemetery, in Flemington, NJ. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday September 3, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until time of service.
