John E. Kertesz

John E. Kertesz 68, of Nescopeck, PA was stricken at his home and died Saturday June 29, 2013. He was born Jan 3, 1945 in Trenton NJ and was a son of Helen Yuhasz Kertesz, of Flemington New Jersey, and the late Walter Kertesz. John graduated from Hunterdon High School in the class of 1963 and attended Temple University, and graduated from American Academy Mcallister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City, in 1966. During his working career he worked for McCracken Newton funeral home in Newton NJ. Moving to Nescopeck he purchased the former Earl Heller Funeral Home which he operated until the time of his death. In the mid 90’s he purchased and operated Harold Wulfert’s Funeral Home, in Catawissa for numerous years before consolidating it with his funeral home in Nescopeck. John was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Berwick, where he was an usher. He had a love for God and enjoyed his bible study group. He also was a Deputy Coroner for Luzerne County, and was associated with the Nescopeck Ambulance Association. He enjoyed yard work, was a very hard worker and a good son. In addition to his mother he is survived by a sister Carol Mowrey and her husband Clyde, of High Bridge NJ, two nieces Kelly Balodis and her husband Adam, and Danielle Mowrey. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 9:15 AM from the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen’s Church, 105 Mine St. Flemington. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 2 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
