Linda Ann Weibel Beck, age 74 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family and close friends.
Born at home in Lambertville, NJ, June 7, 1944, daughter of Ruth Naomi Fuhr Weibel and the late Herbert Henry Weibel, she was a lifelong Hunterdon County, NJ resident.
Raised on the Weibel family farm located on Reaville Avenue where Flemington South Estates now stand, she was a 1964 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School.
For many years Linda worked as a school crossing guard at J.P. Case Middle School as well as an aide at both Robert Hunter and Barley Sheaf Elementary Schools. She had several other jobs through the years, including operating a sewing repair shop in cooperation with Plaza Cleaners in the Reading Ridge Shops, and also running a day care center out of her home for many years.
For all those reading thus far, if the terms, “nature,” “children,” and, “family” come to mind, then you are understanding Linda and the rich legacy she leaves.
A hard worker by nature, she was a true mother figure to many. She devoted her life to her family, and being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend just begins to describe the person Linda is…and will always be as she lives on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to know her.
Growing up on the family farm, Linda knew the value of working hard and enjoying, “Mother Nature.” She was known for having a robust vegetable garden each year; from asparagus to corn, tomatoes to peas, carrots to Swiss chard, she had it all. She enjoyed growing the garden, but more importantly she enjoyed sharing it with family and friends.
Many days were spent laughing in the garden, watching the birds and other creatures living life. Night were spent by a fire pit, with laughter always a constant.
More than 55 years ago, Linda was spotted at a wedding reception by Albert Lawrence Beck, who knew upon seeing her for the first time that he had to get to know her a bit better. Their courtship led to their wonderful and memory-filled marriage, which began on January 4, 1964 when they were joined in holy matrimony at St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, which was located then on Mine Street.
In addition to her many jobs which she excelled, Linda was a constant in giving back to, and helping the community at large. She was involved with Hunterdon County Meals on Wheels; was a member of, “The Friends of the Hunterdon County Library”; was a longtime member of the Hunterdon County Knitting and Crocheting Guild; was a member of the Somerset/Hunterdon US Bowling Congress; was a phenomenal ballet, tap, line and square dance at the Hunterdon County Senior Center; and could answer just about every question on Jeopardy!
The poet John Muir once wrote, “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” Linda, you leave a legacy of kindness, fortitude, peace and love that does not end with physical death and anyone who has met you, carries your light forward.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joseph Francis Veneziale, Jr.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband, Albert Lawrence Beck; her mother, Ruth Naomi Weibel; her children and their spouses, Andrew Albert Beck, Kevin Miles Beck and his wife, Wendy Beck, Cheri Lynn Veneziale and her husband, Jerimy Allan Outen, Ilene Nanette Beck, Janette Sue Beck and her husband, Alfredo Manuel Cunha; her grandchildren, Joshua James Beck, Erin Nicole Veneziale, Michael Joseph Veneziale, and Tristan Alexander daCunha; her siblings, Lois Stansfield and her husband, David, Donna Hartpence and her husband, Wayne, Doris Stansfield, Mark Weibel and his wife, Laura Anderson, Martin Weibel, and John Weibel and his wife, Sue; many extended family; and a host of dear friends.
