Maryann Gloria Mironchik, age 88 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center, with with her sister, Janet Mickens, by her side.
Born on July 1, 1937, in Perth Amboy, NJ, daughter of the late Mary Savino and Andrew Liscinski, Maryann was raised in Iselin, NJ, and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1954.
With a passion for education driving her heart, Maryann would go on to attend Trenton State College where she obtained her BA in early education. With a mind and heart which felt that learning was a lifelong adventure, she would continue on to earn a MA in Education from Seton Hall University, where she served as State President of the Alpha Zeta State Society and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Sorority, two groups which she would continue to be a part of for the rest of her life.
Following her graduation from Seton Hall University in the early 1960’s, Maryann’s love of exploration and education combined, with her securing work with the Department of Defense teaching elementary education in both Germany and Japan.
In 1971, she began her professional journey at the Kingwood Township School in Kingwood Township, NJ. She would work her way through the proverbial ranks, retiring in 1993 as Principal after a storied career of helping each and every one of her students follow their dreams.
The 1970’s were a time of change for Maryann personally as well, as it was on July 11, 1971, at St. Cecilia’s Church, Iselin, NJ, that she would take the hand of her best friend, Walter Mironchik, in holy matrimony. Walter shared Maryann’s love of exploration and the couple were avid travelers. They belonged to a camping club, the Blue Mountain Wanderers, and traveled throughout the United States, as well as made trips to Italy, Russia, and the Caribbean Islands. They were especially fond of sharing the memories they made on not one, but rather on two driving trips to Alaska and whose beauty always stuck with Maryann.
A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Victories Church, Baptistown, NJ, Maryann loved gardening as well as attending concerts. She truly loved anything to do with music and she had a wide range of musical enjoyment.
Most important to Maryann though, was her desire to be a role model for young women. She strove in all of her actions to remind the youngest of the generations that they should always push to be the best versions of themselves possible, and that there was nothing that was out of their reach if they just put their hearts and minds on the same path!
In addition to her parents, Mary and Andrew, and her loving husband, Walter, Maryann was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Sona, a brother, Andrew P. Liscinski, and a brother-in-law, George Mironchik.
Surviving are her sister, Janet Mickens; her sister-in-law, Lynne Liscinski; her brother-in-law, Louis Sona; her nieces and nephews, Joseph (Katrina) Mickens, Andrew P. Mickens, Deborah (Greg) Coates, Andrew (Nina) Sona, Harold Sona, Andrew (Janice) Liscinski, Deborah Liscinski, Sharon (John) Eric, Theresa (Craig) Higgins, Francis Mironchik, and Anne Mironchik; many great nieces; great nephews; extended family; many dear friends; and of course all of her many students that she was privileged to teach over her lifetime whom she thought of as family.
Although Maryann is no longer physically with us, she is still in our hearts, and her spirit and legacy will live through her family and loved ones until we are all reunited in that place promised in John 14.
Maryann will lie in repose on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 10:00-11:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, 1005 County Road 519, Frenchtown, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Noon at the church, following the visitation, and to which all are welcome.
Following Mass, the family requests you to remain with them at church for a luncheon in Maryann’s honor catered by her favorite restaurant, Marinelli’s.
Interment will be private.
You are encouraged to visit Maryann’s permanent life celebration site at www.wrightfamily.com to leave messages of condolence, share words of comfort and recollection, and post photographs of her life.
