Patricia Ann “Pat” Polon, age 73 years, of Bridgewater, NJ, died on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset, Somerville, NJ.
Born in New York City, NY, August 16, 1944, daughter of the late Frank J. Dorry, Jr. and Gertrude Hammond Dorry, she had resided in Bridgewater for the past several months, having formerly lived in Ringoes, Raritan Borough, Hillsborough, and Bound Brook, NJ.
Growing up in the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewater Township, Pat was a 1962 graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School. She went on to work for many years at the Somerset County United Way, dedicating herself to the mission and the causes which United Way works so hard to achieve.
She was a devout communicant and parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Bradley Gardens, and her passing into eternal life on Holy Thursday after fighting the effects of a stroke last fall, is significant on so many levels.
Family was Pat’s world; she was the “cool” Mom and therefore a second mother to all of her children’s friends as they were growing up. The next title bestowed on her of which she was most proud was, “Gram.” She cherished her grandchildren and would do anything for them.
A beach-goer, many fond memories were made on Long Beach Island and Ortley beaches in New Jersey. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid animal lover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Dorry.
Surviving are her loving and devoted family, her daughter, Pati Conover of San Diego, CA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Patty Conover of Manville, NJ and Michael Conover of Hillsborough, NJ; her siblings, Trudy and her husband, Ty Klock of Hillsborough, NJ, Frank and his wife, Verna Dorry of Ringoes, NJ; her grandchildren, Holly, Amanda, Heidi, Heather, Michael and Jimmy; her tiger cat, “Baby”; several nieces, nephews and extended family; and many dear friends.
