Paul Solmon Arthur, age 83 years, of Annadale, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, with his cherished family by his side.
Paul was born on November 21, 1941, in Hackensack, NJ, son of the late Louis A. Arthur and Rose Vara. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1959 and served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. He was stationed primarily in Alabama, Texas, and Germany, where he worked on missile systems.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; his children, Christopher Arthur and Dawn Little; his grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Christopher, and Amber; his stepson, Jason and step-grandson, Brandon; his brothers, Valentine, Mitchell, and Frank; several nieces, nephews and extended family; and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his brothers, David, Alexander, Robert, and Louis, and by his nephew, Alex.
Paul had a warm, slightly quirky sense of humor that endeared him to family and friends. An avid gardener and golfer, Paul was a devoted fan of The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps (formerly the Holy Name Cadets of Garfield), where he played the bugle in the late 1950s. Paul’s career included positions at Singer, Merrick Scales, and Pioneer Standard Electronics. In recent years, he enjoyed working part time at ShopRite in Clinton. Paul was a lifelong New York Giants fan.
A devout Catholic, Paul was devoted to praying the rosary and worshipping at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale, NJ.
Paul was kind and generous, always going out of his way to make others happy. He will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at noon, at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ, under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
There are no calling hours and everyone is encouraged to meet directly at the Church on Thursday morning beginning at 11:45 a.m.
Entombment in Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, located on church grounds, will immediately follow mass, and to which all are welcome.
