Richard John Hill, Jr., 51 of Flemington, NJ died June 7th, 2010, from cancer at his home. Rich had a successful medical career, working first as a pharmacist, and then in the pharmaceutical industry. One of his prime interests was cancer education. He was a medical writer, and became the foremost expert on the cancer drug Taxol; a drug that helped millions, including his father and sister-in-law, battle cancer. His expertise in the field of cancer care came into play when he began his own battle with cancer. Rich was also an accomplished musician, playing clarinet, saxophone, and drums and was a member of many fine bands, including the Blawenburg Band, Eastern Wind Symphony, Whitehouse Wind Symphony and the Virginia Grand Military Band. Last summer, he was a guest soloist with the Sioux Falls Municipal Band. In the culmination of his musical career, he recently accompanied one of his childhood idols, Stanley Drucker, in a performance with the Eastern Wind Symphony. His first love was his family. You can tell how important his daughters were to him by the way he always talked about their accomplishments and about how wonderful they are as people. He was also proud of the rest of his family. Rich was predeceased by his father Richard J. Hill Sr. in 2007 and his stepmother Joy Hill in 2009. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Elliott Hill, daughters Kimberly, Kristen (fianc e, Matt Baribeau,) and Keriann, stepdaughters Katherine Elliott and Elizabeth Elliott, his mother and stepfather Mary and Ray Porzio, brothers Chris (Susan), Eugene (Deborah), and Steven (Ronna) and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in Somerset Hills Mausoleum in Basking Ridge, NJ. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 10 from 2 4 and 7 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Blawenburg Band, c/o Eugene Hill, 206 Kingwood Locktown Rd., Stockton, NJ 08559, for a scholarship program that is being started in Rich s memory.
