Andrew Thomas “Andy Yas” Yasenchak, Sr., age 70 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Newark, NJ, April 15, 1945, son of the late Andrew and Bessie Jones Yasenchak, he was raised in Scotch Plains, NJ and settled in Raritan Township in 1972.
A 1963 graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, he went on to attend Alma White College in Zion, NJ. He was the owner and operator of Unitronix Data Systems, Raritan Boro, NJ for many years. Holding two patents, Andy was an innovative leader in the computer systems field.
Andy was a true giver whose heart of gold was always available to help anyone in need. Growing up during the riots in the 1950’s in New Jersey, he was always taught to be open-minded and to respect everyone. This carried over into both business and family life. The eldest of fifty-two cousins, Andy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His cherished grandson, Andrew Christian, was his pride and joy and was a source of strength as he battled a rare form of cancer for the past seven years.
A longtime member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Flemington, NJ, he also was a car enthusiast, especially owning ’57 Chevy’s and Corvettes. With his wife Barbara, Andy traveled all over the world and was particularly fond of cruising. He also enjoyed spending time in Atlantic City, weightlifting and just had a passion and zest for living life to its fullest.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Monica Yasenchak and a brother-in-law, Harmut Kurzke.
Surviving are his high school sweetheart and wife of fifty-two years, Barbara Ann Lindner Yasenchak with whom he joined hands in marriage on March 7, 1964; a son, Andrew Thomas Yasenchak, Jr. of Raritan Township, NJ; a daughter, Robin Krog of Branchburg, NJ; a grandson, Andrew Christian Krog of Branchburg, NJ; two twin brothers and a sister-in-law, Lewis and Anne Yasenchak of Cohutta, GA and John Yasenchak of Larksville, PA; a sister, April Kurzke of Lorton, VA; several nieces and nephews, Diane Montgomery, John Yasenchak, Jr., Susan Yasenchak and Brendan Kurzke; a nephew and Godson, Kyle Kurzke; his three loving shelties, Toby, Lexie and Sammy; and many extended family and friends.
Funeral Services officiated by Rev. Kathryn R. Mustaro will take place on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright and Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home and Friday, March 18, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the church. There will be a time of personal reflection on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for those unable to attend the funeral service on Friday.
